I am in love with Pinterest.com

I have become a super fan of Pinterest.Com checking in on most days to see what has been posted that I cannot fail to repin to my Pinterest Boards.  I often use these pins to either cook something or make something.

I have at least 4 or 5 containers of home-made cleaning supplies that I find work very well that I got off of Pinterest.  I especially like the cleaner I made for my wooden floors along with a clothes soap to get my clothes very white.

I am copying down the recipes to make a notebook for a friend for Christmas along with giving her a container of home-made clothes detergent made from Fels Napa, Washing Soda and Borax.

For wood floors:
1 c water
 1 c vinegar
 1c alcohol
 2-3 drops dishwashing soap.

I bought a Rubbermaid Reveal mop with an attached container, spray accessory and removable pad that can be tossed in the washing machine at Grocery Outlet for 19.99.  I fill the container with the Wooden Floor cleaner and whalla clean floors!  I have two dogs and two cats so you can imagine how very dirty all my floors are.

I love to make my grandchildren some home-made gifts for Christmas letting them know that the best gifts are made by heart strings of love.  I had been saving ideas for months from Pinterest.com.  I printed off the ideas and have been checking them off as I get them done.  Needless to say, my house is buried in Christmas glitter, ribbon and all manner of pretty things.

I saw this pin for an advent calendar that sold for 1200.00, which reminded me that I had bought a school picture frame of a truck at a garage sale for only 1.00; that was stuffed into my craft closet.  I decided that I could make that into my own version of an Advent Calendar for my grandson William.

I am not quite finished as I need to put the flaps on to cover the pictures and stick in a small toy or piece of candy for each day.  I plan to do 12 days leaving Santa as the truck driver open.  I have purchased the small hinges and now have to carefully measure and cut the heavy card stock for each picture place along with gluing a small wooden bead for a handle.  I laminated the pictures so that little fingers wouldn't damage them with use.  As you can see, I went a bit crazy in my button box even layering some of them and then topping with glitter glue.  I need to learn how to say "no more".

For the red centers of the tires:
  1. Painted them red
  2. Covered the wet paint with red glitter
  3. Covered the glitter with Diamond Glaze
  4. Be careful if you have cats.  Mine do have some cat hair stuck in them.

I would like to add wrapped gifts and maybe a small Christmas tree on top of the back bed of the truck, but think maybe they would be too delicate for young children.  I want William to be able to touch without fear of destroying anything.

I will be sure to post a picture when I get it completed by tomorrow!

I got waylaid by starting 23 lbs of home-made bacon with my neighbor this morning.  The bacon will be ready to smoke in a week.  That can be another post.

I sent this to my granddaughter, Gabi, so she could let me know exactly what she wanted for Christmas.  I am amazed what I find on Pinterest!

I made each grandchild a bendy doll that I found the directions for on a really nice blog:  The Enchanted Tree.  Mine don't look anything like any I saw, but the idea was the same.  One of mine looks like a Viking of sorts for William while the other is a pretty little girl for Gabi.  Very fast and simple to make.

I saw this awesome jar of Fairy Dust to make by breaking a glow stick in a jar and adding some glitter.  Breaking that glow stick was not easy!  I know there is some shards of glass in that mix!  No worries because I glued the lids on the jar so little hands cannot open them.  Here is a picture.  I renamed them Magic Jars just in case William might think I thought he liked fairies when he didn't.

The jars do glow in the dark.  Again, I went for my button jar and glitter glue.  I thought they looked naked so I added ribbon.

Blue for William and Green for Gabi.  I added a Christmas charm on each ribbon that they might like to keep for a necklace.

Not long ago I sent almost 9 year old Gabi some nail polish.  She like it a lot.  I saw this idea on Pinterest.com:

I added the idea to use one of the gift card holders from the dollar store that I thought she could use for a doll's purse to stick the nail polish into.

In the envelope is a picture of the one below so he will know what he is to do with his very own roll of masking tape.  I ended up wrapping the roll with tissue paper and twisting plastic fake barbed wire around it.  It is pretty cool and he won't have a clue as to what it is!

I haven't made these yet, but I managed to purchase all the ingredients.

upside-down ice cream cones make excellent candy Christmas trees! The blogger baked cookie dough and chocolate chips inside each cone, then added a popsicle stick, but we'll keep them empty, dip them in melted white chocolate dyed green, then have the kids decorate them with candy.

Can you imagine coming up with all these ideas?  My friends think that I have made them up when in fact I just use Pinterest.com to give myself a sense of being creative.

The number one favorite of mine is:

The note says:  "I've heard you've been naughty.  So here's the scoop.  All you get for Christmas is snowman poop".  It makes me giggle just reading it.  But then you have to see what others have done with this idea so here are a couple more pictures off of Pinterest.com:

Very Special Indeed!!
the little Rabbit is dern cute!
and the marshmellows are simple.  I used white coconut M&M's.  Tic Tacks would be good too

I am making more because it is what I do each year.  I go crazy over Christmas.  I only wish my grandchildren would be here so we could make this huge mess together!

My suggestion is that you go to Pinterest ASAP!  I want you to make your house full of glitter too.

Happy Holidays!
