Winchuck River Store is helping to raise funds for a chapel being built in Brookings, Oregon, by selling some of the unique and beautiful items collected by Elmo and Lorraine Williams over a 54-year movie career living and visiting many countries. Elmo Williams, an Oscar- winning retired movie producer is creating a place of peace and tranquility for wayfarers to have a place to relax in Azalea Park located on the Wild River Coast of Southern Oregon in memorial to his late wife, Lorraine. The chapel is now under construction and will hopefully be completed in November 2008. A website devoted to the Capella by the Sea and the park where it is located is being prepared for everyone to visit and enjoy.
Elmo and Lorraine Williams were instrumental in creating Azalea Park as one of our most visited attractions here on the Pacific Northwest Coast. They took a park overrun with blackberries and along with saving the native azaleas, they planted many beautiful trees and flowers. The work was done entirely by volunteers.

Elmo has enlisted the help of the E. Fay Jones Architectural firm who designed the Thorncrown Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This magnificent wood and glass structure sits in the mist of the beautiful Ozark hills. Thorncrown has won numerous architectural awards and has been featured on NBC Nightly News. It has been in almost every major magazine in the country such as Newsweek and Parade.
The building in Brookings will sit in the mist of native Oregon Azaleas and tall pines. You will walk down a wooded trail, move around a curve and there will be our Lorraine’s Memorial. The name that Elmo chose is, “Capella by the Sea”.
As head of worldwide production at Fox, Elmo and Lorraine met many interesting people such as Johnny Cash, Kirk Douglas, Frank Sinatra, Anthony Quinn, Elizabeth Taylor along with, The Beatles and numerous other famous characters from the film industry. Lorraine made them a comfortable home in each foreign destination learning some of the language and making friends with the people. She was a gracious and loving woman.
